HABITATS & HOPS:
Wednesday May 13th
Habitats & Hops
Step inside 3rd Turn's "The Church" this spring for an evening where conservation meets craft beer. Habitats & Hops is your chance to kick back, grab a pint, and discover the powerful role native grasses play in supporting wildlife, improving soil health, and preserving Kentucky’s wild places.
We’re bringing in the experts—regional biologist Bryan Cobban with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources, alongside Charlie Zwischenberger of Lewis Seed Co.—to break it all down in a way that’s approachable, engaging, and rooted in real-world application. Whether you’re managing land, planting a backyard garden, or just love being outside, you’ll walk away with ideas you can actually use.
Featured Bite: Chef-crafted ceviche will be available for purchase by Chef Lee Mayfield, highlighting native Kentucky grasses, herbs, and seasonal produce. It’s a fresh, flavorful way to literally taste the landscape and experience how local ingredients can shine in creative, unexpected ways.
Bonus: Free native seed packets (while supplies last!) courtesy of Lewis Seed Company—so you can start making an impact right away.
This isn’t just a learning event—it’s a gathering. Meet fellow hunters, anglers, fishers, landowners, plant lovers, and outdoor enthusiasts; Swap stories, and connect over a shared appreciation for the natural world. Curious about Backcountry Hunters & Anglers (BHA)? This is the perfect low-key way to learn more about their mission to protect public lands, waters, and wildlife—and how you can be part of it.
Not a hunter or angler? Not a problem. If you’re someone who simply loves plants, enjoys being outdoors, or is just curious about how nature works, you’ll feel right at home here. Come learn something new, meet great people, and enjoy a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere.
Whether you’re deep in the conservation world or just starting to explore it, Habitats & Hops is for you. Great beer, great people, and a great cause—what more could you ask for?
